An extensive two-month journey through Australia is being halted days after the fatal incident of an elderly lady who was stranded by the vessel on a isolated tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on the tropical location with fellow passengers from the vessel, but broke off from the group for a pause. The ship departed without her and came back later that day after the crew realised the lady was not present.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are examining the incident, alongside investigators and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that passengers and personnel on the vessel were notified that the remainder of the cruise had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and prior engine troubles".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to coordinate the travel back of the passengers via chartered flights".

Officials also released an updated announcement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Captain" banning any additional guests from entering the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the liner in the Australian city upon its return.

Sequence of Events

The liner originally sailed from the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was just two days into the voyage at the point of the elderly woman's death. The remote island was the opening port on the itinerary.

Passengers on board - who typically pay large sums of money to take part in the cruise - were transported there for a daily excursion with the option of hiking or snorkelling.

Relatives Statement

The child of the elderly passenger said that her family was "surprised and distressed that the liner left the island after an scheduled tour without my parent".

In her statement, she described her mum as an "energetic octogenarian" who was a affiliate of a bushwalking group.

"From the little facts we have been informed, it appears that there was a lapse of responsibility and basic judgment," she said.

She continued that she wished the inquiry would be able to identify what "the company should have performed that might have preserved Mother's existence".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a very hot afternoon, and she fell ill on the mountain ascent," she revealed.

"Officials suggested her to go back, without accompaniment. Then the vessel departed, reportedly without performing a roll call.

"At some stage in that chain of events, or shortly after, she passed away, by herself."

Organization Position

Through an announcement, the Chief Executive confirmed that the organization was "cooperating fully with authorities to assist their investigation".

He mentioned that the firm was "very regretful that this has transpired" and had offered its total backing to the loved ones.

Cruise Industry Practices

The vessel caters for up to one hundred twenty travelers with nearly fifty staff, according to company data. It was specifically designed to enter remote locations of the Australian shoreline and is outfitted with "auxiliary vessels" - small boats used to take passengers on day excursions.

Events of this nature are rare, and cruise ships have procedures to document which travelers are boarding or disembarking, according to industry experts.

"Sneaking ashore or [back] on the ship really isn't an option," a specialist stated.

Vessel operators take these methods very seriously and have "clever tech in place to avoid such events from occurring," the authority continued.

"This is probably a shocking - and unfortunate - isolated incident."
