A chopper hovering over a popular southern California beach unexpectedly commenced twirling wildly, finally losing altitude and plunging into a line of palm groves as beachgoers observed.

Videos uploaded online capture the chopper beginning to twirl near the beach then falling towards the border of the beach, where it becomes wedged between palms and a steps adjacent to the shoreline route.

First Aid Update

The Huntington Beach fire department reported five people were taken to hospital involving two individuals who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the accident on the weekend.

Three individuals on the road were hurt. Specifics on their injuries were still under review.

What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.
